Quadro Capital Partners held a Route to Singapore IPO Seminar together with Singapore Exchange.
Marriott Grand Hotel in Moscow, Russia, March 10, 2010 - The “Route to Singapore” IPO Seminar was hosted by QUADRO Capital Partners with participation of the Singapore Exchange.
The Seminar offered Russian companies a first opportunity to have an insight into Singapore IPO specifics, get an overview of most popular IPO markets, and learn about instruments and procedures fostering business investment appeal.
In this fast changing world with a demand for new business growth the opportunities of Asian markets become more appealing to Russian companies. Singapore attracts players seeking investment and Asian business development partners. The Russia’s and Singapore’s leaders’ meeting in Autumn 2009 revealed potential and prospects of economic, political and business cooperation between two countries. “Singapore today is not only the world’s largest business and financial center; it is also a “door” to the other emerging Asian markets”, Dmitry Medvedev stated during his official visit to Singapore.
Mr. Simon Tensing de Cruz, Singapore’s Ambassador to Russia, opened the Seminar with his speech, outlined a timely nature of the event and great potential for Russia-Singapore cooperation and business development between the companies of both countries. “As the feedback of the Seminar’s participants has restated -Russian business needs additional capital investment to continue developing and come out of recession. IPO is an instrument that opens doors to cheaper capital sources due to Company going public, and allows reducing borrowed financing. The Asian capital market is very appealing to Russia these days. We hope that Singapore IPO seminar has revealed a world of new growth opportunities for Russian businesses” – Giedrius Pukas, Managing Partner of Quadro Capital Partners, stated.
The Seminar was attended by representatives of nearly fifty medium-sized and large corporations: Sberbank, Basel, Inter RAO UES, Interros, RusGidro and others. Representatives of Singapore Exchange, HL Bank and Morgan Stanley (Singapore) shared about Singapore listing specifics, IPO timelines, book-building and costs of listing. IPO legal fundamentals were covered by Wong Partnership partner (Singapore) and Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. During the Russian part of the Seminar the RTS Exchange experts provided an overview of rules and conditions of dual listing which is a necessary pre-requisite for Russian companies going public abroad. Specially for Seminar’s audience the value of independent directors’ participating in corporate governance question was covered by a partner of Board Solutions. Also the participants were offered the aspects of structuring business for IPO by a partner of AGA Management, Olga Sorokina.
